Lendita Zeqiraj is an award-winning Kosovar film director, screenwriter and visual artist. Born on February 13th 1972 in Prishtina, she graduatet (1990-94) and postgraduatet (1995–97) in Visual Arts at The Academy of Arts in Prishtina. During the war in Kosovo, she moves to Paris where she studied Film Aesthetics at Paris 8 University. During this time, she starts to write and direct films. In 2014 she’s declared ‘National Filmmaker of the Year’, and won “The Annual Film Excellence Award for Cinematic Achievements” by the Kosovo Ministry of Culture. She worked on a number of shorts and documentary films, which have participated in over 300 International Film Festivals, such as International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Thessaloniki, Cairo, Leeds, Vilnius, Trieste, Hamptons Film Festival etc., winning prizes in a number of them. Her last short film FENCE, just won Best Narrative Short award at Palm Springs Int’l ShortFest, Hamptons and New Orleans Film Festival, and has been triple qualified for Oscar® Academy Award.
Her previous short film BALCONY, premiered In Competition Orizzonti at the 70th Venice Film Festival and screened at over 170 International Film Festival such as Telluride Film Festival, AFI FEST, Palm Springs Short Fest, Warsaw International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival etc. and won over 35 international awards, including the Special Jury Award at the AFI FEST 2013. She just finished her debut feature film, AGA’S HOUSE, which screenplay won the Grand Prize at American Movie Awards, Golden Award at Hollywood Screenplay Contest, it was an Official Finalist at New York Screenplay Contest and Silver Prize winner at Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest.
